About Kalkan
The season runs from May through to November and there's rarely a day when the sun doesn't shine. Kalkan is considered to be one of Turkeys most sophisticated resorts and is fast becoming the country's premier resort for private Villa holidays.
It appeals to the more discerning tourist, the kind of visitor who would enjoy Tuscany or the Dordogne. Kalkan has been likened to a Cornish fishing village, with twisting, narrow cobbled streets, leading down to the harbour.
Carved Ottoman timber balconies are garlanded with masses of brilliantly coloured bougainvillea cascading to the streets below.
It is a very special place with a unique atmosphere.
Kalkan is said to have the highest number of restaurants and bars per square metre on the Turkish coast (over 100 of them). Almost every hotel and pension has it's own rooftop or terrace bar serving all kinds of international drinks and cocktails. The food served in the restaurants is of an unrivalled quality attracting many top chefs to the area. It is diverse in nature serving everything from authentic Ottoman cuisine through european dishes to contemporary Thai fusion.
